Ornamental wooden jigsaws

Steve's ornamental jigsaws are made from pieces of wood between 2 and 4 cm thick so that when complete they always stand up.  The wood ranges from wood taken from spalted logs that have been left in the outside exposed to the elements, to exotic woods that are offcuts from timber yards that would ahve been thrown away to old table tops that have been given or bought at a local recycling center.

The jigsaws are not intended to be toys but more of an entertaining wooden ornament.

The wood is chosen so that the natural grain and patterning of the wood enhances the finished jigsaw.

This one is an eagle designed by Steve.  It took three design attempts before it would stand up without falling apart. As you can see, the grain of this wood enhances the eagle shape and looks like feathers
